Instructions for WinMXWorld Patch Removal

Instructions for Windows XP and Windows Vista

In Windows XP and Windows Vista, the hosts file should be in this directory path: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC.

1. Open My Computer

2. Double Click on C: drive

3. Double Click on the Windows folder

4. Double Click on the System32 folder.

5. Double Click on the Drivers folder.

6. Double Click on the etc folder.

7. Inside the etc folder you will find a file called hosts. There may also be a hosts.bak or hosts.ics. You will be editing the one that is just called hosts with no file extension.

8. If you can see the file called hosts skip to step 14. If you cannot see the file continue with the following steps.

9. Click on the tool bar called Tools. Go to Folder Options.

10. Click on the tab called View.

11. Untick Hide extensions for known file types

12. Untick Hide protected operating systems files (Recommended)

13. Click Apply and Click Apply to All Folders

14. Right click on the hosts file and choose Rename. Call the file hosts.old.

15. Download the MXPie Patch Manual Install File

16. Unzip the file. Inside you will find a file called hosts.

17. Copy the file to the etc folder that contains hosts.old.

**Note if you had a custom hosts file you can copy and paste those entries from hosts.old to hosts.

Next clear the DNS cache so that the new hosts file will take effect.

1. Click Start

2. Click Run (Found under All Programs in Windows Vista)

3. Type cmd and click OK

4. In the new window type: ipconfig /flushdns

5. Execute the command.

In Windows 2000, the hosts file should be in this directory path: C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC.

1. Open My Computer

2. Double Click on C: drive

3. Double Click on the WINNT folder

4. Double Click on the System32 folder.

5. Double Click on the Drivers folder.

6. Double Click on the etc folder.

7. After the new window appears select the View tab.

8. Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files and folders.

9. Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide file extensions for known file types.

10. Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files.

11. Press the Apply button

12. Right click on the hosts file and choose Rename. Call the file hosts.old.

13. Download the MXPie Patch Manual Install File

14. Unzip the file. Inside you will find a file called hosts.

15. Copy the file to the Windows folder that contains hosts.old.

**Note if you had a custom hosts file you can copy and paste those entries from hosts.old to hosts.

13. Copy the file to the Windows folder that contains hosts.old.
