Memory is required to run multi programs in the smooth way without being interrupted of any computer operation. What makes a computer or laptop can run fast smoothly is based on its processor speed and the amount of memory.
It can result in low speed and even application crashing if your computer is run out of memory. The processor and memory has to be developed along with the need from the market to get the faster and powerful computer.
Memory has developed into many types and series. SDRAM were invented in 1996. SDRAM (Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory) delivering the data at high speed which is using an interface that have been synchronized to the CPU clock.
The type of memory is using the word “PC” and the following numbers is refers to the speed of the system’s Front Side Bus (FSB) in SDRAM modules. The higher the number, the faster the system’s FSB.
The FSB is the memory bus between the Memory module and Processor and being the main information highway in the PC system. The faster the bus, the faster the data is being transferred between memory and processor.

PC133 Memory is the fastest and final SDRAM standard that approved by JEDEC (Joint Electron Device Engineering Council). This memory runs at 133MHz, 3.3V voltage, 64-bit wide bus and delivers 1064MB per second bandwidth. It is available in 144 pin SO-DIMM and 168 pin DIMM.
PC133 Memory is backward compatible with PC100, PC126 or PC66. Its module is different with its predecessors. The AC timing specification is resulting that the PC133 Memory is allowed a system bus to run at 133MHz FSB (Front Side Bus).
If the PC133 Memory ran on the 100MHz FSB, the memory will operate as fast as 100MHz, and so does if it works with others. The backward compatible means you can add faster memory to a computer that designed to run slower memory.
Laptop PC133 Memory is fulfilling the Intel’ requirements and compliant with Pentium II, Power Mac G4, and AMD Athlon based systems. But the PC133 Memory cannot be replaced or mixed with newer generation as DDR, RDRAM, or DDRRAM.
Identifying PC133 among others
The PC133 memory speed rating is 7.5 nanoseconds when runs on 133MHz FSB motherboard. And this chip is often referred as “-7.5”. The PC133 Memory is identified with “-65”, “-7.5” or “-7” when you reading the last two digits on the chip part numbering. The “-7” means the minimum operating clock cycle of the device.
Conclusion
Adding faster memory probably cannot faster your system to run. The computer cannot be speed up if there are any components in the computer that run in slower speed.
Your supplier supposed to be giving the clear information about the PC133 Memory RAM module performance. Check it first to the system manual or look into the system to find the compatible memory.
When you installed the PC133 Memory in the old computer and it cannot work, probably it is the computer faults, and not the new memory does.
